BELT OF TRUTH
THE TRUTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH, AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH…
All American Rejects
Dirty Little Secrets
I’ll keep you my dirty little secret
(Dirty little secret)
Don’t tell anyone or you’ll be just another regret
(Just another regret, hope that you can keep it)
My dirty little secret
Who has to know
When we live such fragile lives
It’s the best way we survive
I go around a time or two
Just to waste my time with you
Tell me all that you’ve thrown away
Find out games you don’t wanna play
You are the only one that needs to know
I’ll keep you my dirty little secret
(Dirty little secret)
Don’t tell anyone or you’ll be just another regret
(Just another regret, hope that you can keep it)
My dirty little secret
Who has to know
The way she feels inside (inside)
Those thoughts I can’t deny (deny)
These sleeping dogs won’t lie (won’t lie)
And now I try to lie
It’s eating me apart
Trace this life out
How do these lyrics define truth?
What words stick out to you in regards to where “living hidden lives” and “lies” lead?
How does it make you feel to live lies and/or know a lot of the world lives lies?
What do you know about God that would provide you with real truth and hope?
TRUTH AND CONSEQUENCES
Paul was a Jew and the Law was the foundation for everything Jewish people believed and followed. During this time there were a lot of Jews who had taken the Law to an extreme and followed exactly what the Law said rather than really knowing God and following the heart of the Law. When Paul says “I love God’s Law” he is in essence saying he loves God and the heart of what God intended through the words of the Law.
You see, people thought the Law was only what was written in the Old Testament Scriptures. However, Paul is trying to help people understand the Law is a combination of God’s commands in the Bible and His gracious love for all people.
Romans 7:21-25 ”It seems to be a fact of life that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another law at work within me that is at war with my mind. This law wins the fight and makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.”
Do you ever feel like Paul in this passage when he says he wants to do what is right and yet does what is wrong? How?
How would you describe a slave? This passage says we are slaves… how?
So here's the question for the day, "What does this passage say is the answer to this battle?" Answer in the comment section!

Jesus is the answer to all battles we face, whether spiritual or physical.
God’s commands in the Bible and His gracious love for all people.
To fight the battles we face in life, we need to follow the Holy Spirit's leading in our life. The success rate is off the charts!

No insult intended, but the passege said, "Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord." Ok, so that was way to easy. Its od though, that you would use the All American Rejects a an example... When's Linkin Park's turn?
(Its starts with one)
One thing, I dont know why
It doesn't even...
"What does this passage say is the answer to this battle?"
here is a perfect example :
today i was inside albertsons when my mom told me 2 go get a basket so i went searching for a basket, couldnt find one so i walked back 2 my mom and told her there wasnt a basket in the store she looked @ me and sayed "becca go look..."
and i snaped and sayed " you go look for yourself"
and i should of kept my mouth closed!!!
beca bean!!!
The one thing all of us have in common is that we are all sinners but we strive everyday to be like Jesus- although we fail. That is why we should take the time to pray and read the Bible so we can fight the battles of everyday life.
JESUS is the answer!!!! When we pray, it may sound something like this:
Dear Lord, please forgive me of all my sins. Help me to be a better Christian. Amen.
This is the perfect example of showing how we don't talk to God enough! I find my self saying that ALL the time! God already forgave us for our sins. But he wants you to catch yourself sinning, stop, ask for forgiveness SPECIFICALLY, and use your mistakes to grow in your faith! How are we going to be a better christian if we dont know what to change? God wants to know about every detail in your life. He will listen. Try it, you will see the difference!
